Ink & Drawing Delights: Creative Collection

Artist Tools & Supplies

This collection for artist’s all began by the desire to create art materials from nature. I absolutely love working with nature’s materials to create with. It all started with the black walnuts that grow in my yard. I made a beautiful walnut ink from these walnuts. Once I husked the walnuts, I took the husked nuts to place under my large tree in the back, home to my resident squirrels. I only needed to use the actual husk for the ink making.

Following the ink was making charcoal from willow branches and then on to carving dip pens from bamboo reeds. I finished the collection by making ink pots for the ink from a beautiful dark brown clay. This particular clay causes unusual reactions with the glaze. I just love the “funkiness” of white glaze over the dark brown clay. I think it suits this collection perfectly. I hope you enjoy watching this video of the process. This collection will be released later this month. (April 2023) Stay tuned.
